Assesment
We work as a hybrid clinic, integrating the modern way of working i.e. Tele Medicine with the face to face working which we do in our clinics in London and Manchester and hoping to expand.
There is no difference between two; in terms of assessment process, the only difference is that online assessment is done remotely via Tele Medicine (Zoom or Team calls) with a consultant psychiatrist. Whereas the in person assessment is done face to face in our Harley street clinic in London or its counterpart in Manchester.
The assessments are undertaken by the Specialist Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist along with a team having expertise in the Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
The assessments are undertaken by the specialist Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist who has an expertise in the ADHD in children and adults.
Most initial consultations are up to two hours long however it all depends on your specific requirements.
Don’t worry, if you have no one to complete the adult/childhood collateral information forms, we will ask if you have copies of an old school reports/letters. You can discuss it further with us when we contact you.
You can find more information about our assessing psychiatrist on our website, on social media handles as well as most of our doctors are Googleable.
This assessment is exclusively for ADHD/ASD, however the Consultant psychiatrist will also undertake a general psychiatric assessment whilst assessing you for ADHD/ASD. They will note any other co-existing psychiatric conditions which may be contributing to your current mental health difficulties and provide guidance accordingly.
This is the aim of our services to conclude the diagnosis and discuss it at the end of your assessment. However, there can be instances where it’s not possible due to any unforeseen reason, the consultant psychiatrist will be able to explain you in that case.
We can assure you that the assessing consultant have special expertise in ADHD/ASD assessment/treatments. It’s fine if you don’t agree to the explanation being given. You can explore it further with them or write those concerns to us in detail. However, we do not offer second opinion unless there is new evidence or information provided to us.
You will receive a detailed report from the Consultant Psychiatrist after your assessment which is usually within a week. This report will have all the details including your assessment, outcome, and suggested treatment plan.
In ADHD, if the treatment plan recommends a trial of medications, we will recommend you book you for baseline health checks such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, cardiovascular examination, bloods, and ECG with your GP practise. The results should be returned to your Consultant Psychiatrist before your first follow-up appointment. You will be offered … number of follow-ups once commenced on medication to optimise the dose of ADHD medication. The details of every follow-up with the Consultant Psychiatrist will be communicated to your GP as per GMC guidelines on safe prescribing. Once you are established on the stable regime of the medication, we can then set up the shared care protocol with your GP who will take over prescribing of any medication being prescribed for ADHD. This means it would then become NHS prescription.
